Harakeke/Flax

Fast growing, attractive to birds. Ideal for low shelter and riparian/wetland planting. Hardy and tolerant of most sites. Grows to about 3m.

Ti Kouka/Cabbage Tree

An important colonising species that is attractive to birds and ideal for riparian planting, revegetation and erosion control. Grows up to 10m and tolerates wet and dry conditions.

Makomako/Wineberry

Fast growing, wind tolerant tree that can grow up to 10m. An ideal pioneer species that birds love. Great for both riparian planting and revegetation. Tolerates full sun and wet feet but can be frost tender.

Tarata/Lemonwood

Hardy native that is tolerant of poor soil, wind, frost and cool climates. Grows best in full sun and can reach height of about 12m.

Carex Secta

Hardy, fast growing sedge that prefers wet feet. Ideal for riparian/wetland planting, and its large root system is perfect for erosion control on stream banks Grows up to 1.5m high.

Carex Virgata

Hardy, fast growing sedge that can tolerate both wet periods and dry. Ideal for riparian/wetland planting and erosion control on stream banks. Grows up to 1m high.

Pittosporum Colensoi

Hardy native that can reach height of about 6m. Great for hedging or restoration. Frost tolerant.

Ribbonwood

Very fast-growing, hardy tree. Wind, frost and damp tolerant as well as periods of dry. Can grow up to 10m.

Ake Ake

Available in Green and Purple varieties, this hardy, fast-growing native is ideal for restoration projects. Frost and wind tolerant and will tolerate most soil types except extreme wet or dry. Grows to about 4m.

Putaputaweta/Marbleleaf

Prefers good soil that doesn’t dry out. Ideal for riparian/wetland planting and restoration. Prefers a site sheltered from the wind. Can grow up to 10m high.
