Hardy Native Plants by farmers for farmers

Here at Ngaroma Natives we know that farmers around New Zealand are taking steps to improve their land and freshwater quality. We know this because we are farmers.

Our ethos is to grow hardy plants that King Country and Waikato farmers can trust. Plants that are accustomed to the cold, windy conditions of our hill country location. We believe in quality over quantity and are passionate about restoring native bush and increasing biodiversity.

Our core species are grown from seed collected on our family farm and neighbouring farms in Ngaroma. This is why our product list is minimal. If it doesn't grow in Ngaroma, then we don't like to grow it at Ngaroma Natives. However, we can outsource seed/species to help our clients with their specific needs.

Meet Matt and Keri

Matt and Keri Taylor live on a small block next door to Matt’s family drystock farm in Ngaroma. They spend their spare time tramping, hunting and exploring the New Zealand outdoors with their four kids.

In 2019 they were looking for a new business venture that would both suit their isolated location and also work around two preschoolers at home. You'll find Keri in the nursery between school and playcentre commitments, and when Matt isn't working on the home farm you will find him contracting as a local fencer and shearer.
